Hey there,
My name is Alison Kreiter and I am a licensed psychotherapist (LICSW) in the state of Washington. My practice is focused on working with adults of all ages and is informed by my background and training as a social worker. I utilize a strengths-based approach and focus on you as an individual while also exploring your environment, history, and various identities, all of which inform who you are and what is important to you. I approach therapy as a real relationship between equals, focused on you, guided by us both.
When therapy works well, it can become a healing relationship that teaches us more about who we are, what we want, and how to meaningfully connect with ourselves and others. I strive to create a compassionate, respectful space where you feel safe, able to be your full self, and able to explore your struggles and desires without judgment. I aim to practice from a feminist and anti-racist lens.
Improve depression and anxiety
Depression and anxiety can be debilitating, and it can take a lot of courage to ask for help. I have experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating various mood and anxiety disorders and often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills. These therapies can help with identifying and shifting unhelpful thoughts, accepting and finding peace with experiences we cannot change, and skillfully moving forward by creating a life with more joy, less fear, and more compassion for ourselves and others.
Heal past trauma
I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and also utilize Written Exposure Therapy for PTSD. These therapies help shift core negative beliefs, heal shame and guilt, and help people move toward a meaningful life following trauma. Learn more here.
Build a life worth living
I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients suffer less, find peace with their thoughts, accept and regulate their emotions, and build skills to engage in life and relationships with more ease. Please note I am referring out for full-model DBT at this time and am only available for weekly therapy.
Find and improve relationships
Relationships are so important and can deeply impact our life satisfaction. I enjoy working with people who want to explore friendship and romantic relationship dynamics, improve the relationships they have, and find connections with new people- romantic and otherwise.
